About VASLan Third Sector Awards
The Third Sector Awards is a celebration to recognise the achievements and successes of volunteers, charities, community groups and social enterprises across South Lanarkshire. The awards recognise the wide and vital work the South Lanarkshire third sector carries daily. Anyone can nominate organisations or volunteers, including themselves.
2024 Finalists Announced
Volunteer of the Year Award
This award will be presented to an extraordinary individual whose outstanding commitment to volunteering has changed lives and communities, inspired others and made them worthy of special recognition. You should nominate them for this award if you know of such an individual.
Finalists: Ray Ryan, Carole Forrest & Anne Alston.
Young Person Achievement Award
This category is specifically to celebrate the achievements of young people (up to the age of 25), whether in their role as a volunteer or in another format where they have made a positive difference within their community. You can nominate an individual or a group of young people for this award.
Finalists: Matt Mitchell, Brooke Carracher & Charlotte Lily Meek.
Community Champion Award
This award recognises the contribution made by the "unsung hero" in your community. They may have volunteered with several organisations or done something special to support and enhance the community where they live or work. If you think they are an "Unsung Hero," you should nominate them!
Finalists: Miriam Aitken, Gilbert "Gilly" Feron & Adam Patrick.
Environmental or Outdoor Activity Award
This award celebrates the achievements of organisations that have made exceptional use of the outdoors to benefit their community.
Finalists: Friends of Stonehouse Park, Pamis Lanarkshire, Calder Wood Green Spaces Volunteers.
Enterprise or Sustainability Award
This category will shine a light on organisations where enterprise and sustainability are utilised fully to sustain services and achieve the organisation's social purpose.
Finalists: St Mary's for All, Larkhall District Volunteers Group Transport Department & Swaddle.
Partnership or Collaboration Award
This award recognises organisations that have promoted and engaged in effective partnership working and collaborative projects to deliver outcomes for South Lanarkshire's communities better.
Finalists: Hamilton Judo Club Inclusion Development Programme, Agape Wellbeing / The Village Centre & Blue Triangle / GIVIT.
Grassroots Organisation Award
This award recognises grassroots organisations that have made a difference in their local community.
Finalists: LEAP, Fibro Friends Lanarkshire, The Whitehill Activity Group
