Covey Befriending

Just before the lock down was announced, a COVEY Befriending staff member took the initiative and arranged some fantastic Wellbeing Boxes for the young people she was working with to help  and support them during lockdown.

In the box's there were activity packs to pass the time, colouring in books designed to be calming and therapeutic with pens and pencils, some self care items to help with being in the house such as fluffy socks, lip balm, facemask, reusable/washable face cleaner/make up remover.  Some sweets and hot chocolate were added as a wee treat.  Also included was a note with staff details such as phone number and email and a note to encourage them to keep in touch or reach other whenever they needed to.

Since then they have delivered Easter Eggs, donated by Morrisons Supermarket in Lanark, and are in the process of sending out others packs which include art and craft kits, lego, games, books and self care items.

They plan to continue to do this during lockdown as well as the telephone and online contact we have with 175 young people and 60 volunteers

COVEY would like to recognise the continued commitment of staff and volunteers at this time, their innovation and compassion is so important to the young people we support at this difficult time.
