WAT IF Community Support Plan
WAT IF? launched a new Community Support Plan to help support the communities of Woolfords, Auchengray and Tarbrax in light of the COVID-19 pandemic. The amount of hard work and dedication is making a true difference to those who need support.
The weekend before the countrywide lockdown was announced, all households in the area were notified of the new Community Support Plan through social media & distribution of leaflets which detailed a helpline number and email address for any help needed by their local residents. This also included a call out for volunteers which has had an outstanding response with around 50 volunteers signing up so far! The staff at WAT IF? have been overwhelmed by the unbelievable response & generosity of the local residents.
The helpline is manned 24/7 and has so far recieved a substantial number of requests from shopping and prescription pick ups to dog walking and deliveries of hand sanitiser which has been donated from a local gin distillery.
WAT IF? have also pulled together a 'local shopping guide' which can be delivered upon request and a dedicated WAT IF? Shopping Facebook Group where people can share news & updates from retailers about what is avaliable in and around Woolfords, Auchengray and Tarbrax.
Volunteers are continuing to provide food parcels to residents which has been made possible by the donations of food from the community & local businesses.
The efforts from the staff and volunteers at WAT IF? have been invaluable to those who are living in such rural areas throughout this crisis.
