Biggar Community Action Group
Biggar Community Action Group responded quickly to the COVID-19 pandemic and has established a large number of services to help support their local community.
Their Listening Ear service and food/prescription deliveries have been vital services to those who are vulnerable within the community. The Listening Ear means that those who are feeling lonely or isolated can call to have a friendly chat. It is often forgotten how important having someone to talk to is during times like these.
Along with WomanKind Clydesdale they have been issuing Boxes of Kindness which are hand painted by the children in the community. These boxes are filled with soaps, homemade scones and other items which will bring a well-deserved smile.
The Action Group are also running a Social History Project archiving people’s experiences of lockdown. They are interviewing people of all ages, life styles and occupations across Biggar. This provides a picture for future generations to understand what it was like during this time.
The incredible work that Biggar Community Action Group does would not be possible without the hard work and dedication of the volunteers who help to support these services. They are helping to bring the community together during a time of uncertainty.
